Established in 1995, Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational Moroccan university committed to educating future citizen-leaders of Morocco and the world through a globally oriented, English-language, liberal-arts curriculum based on the American style.

The University enhances Morocco and engages the world through leading-edge educational and research programs, including continuing and executive education, upholds the highest academic and ethical standards, and promotes equity and social responsibility.

An independent Board of Trustees composed of national and international business leaders, government officials, and higher education experts oversees the University orientations and performances.

AUI presently has 147 faculty members from Morocco and 16 different other countries and 2136 students who are from Morocco and 30 other nations.  The University offers 7 Bachelor and 12 Master degree programs in its three schools: Business Administration, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Engineering. The Executive Education Center offers two part time degrees, short courses and training programs to executives from public and private institutions.

The Office of International Programs has cultivated relationships with more than 400 institutions on five continents, allowing students to spend one or more semesters as exchange students, attend conferences and events, or participate in cultural trips abroad.

AUI has over 3850 alumni across the globe as of Fall 2014.
